Interstate Meat E. coli Litigation

The Washington Department of Health announced on August 30, 2007 that one child and five adults in King, Island, and Clallam counties in Washington, and two Bend, Oregon, residents had become ill with E. coli infections that were traced to ground beef produced by Interstate Meats.  Later that day, Idaho health officials announced that a victim from the Coeur d’Alene area was also part of the outbreak.

As a result of the outbreak, Interstate Meats recalled approximately 41,300 lbs. of ground beef products for potential E. coli O157:H7 contamination.  The ground beef products were produced between July 19 and July 30, 2007, and were distributed in retail stores in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. The ground beef products had sell-by dates between August 1 and August 11, 2007.

The firm filed a lawsuit against Interstate Meats on behalf of a Washington man on September 10, 2007.
